Introducing Skills

The book Million-Dollar Throw written by Mike Lupica it’s about sports, having as a protagonist a boy named Nate Brodie. Nates favorite sport is American football; his favorite team is the Patriots. He is from that team because his dad was from that team at his little age and until he dies, so Nate actually born with the Patriots shirt on. His favorite player is Tom Brady, he is the best of all times that have played in the Patriots, and he has given happiness to their fans for more than 10 years. Nates dream has always been a professional football player but he always knew that it was too difficult to become one, so he is actually a common boy that goes to school five days a week and plays videogames at weekends. Since he only thinks in videogames and in the Patriots, his grades were not good at all but fortunately he had parents that never take off his PlayStation. For Nate, his console and his PlayStation controls were all for him because at soon as he get in his house the only thing he do was play NFL. One day Nate and her best friend went to a videogame store to buy the new NFL game because players were updated and obviously because the Patriots had new players. When he was buying the famous game, he saw a poster in which the winner of a contest has the opportunity to win one million dollars and also to know personally the Patriots and most important Tom Brady.

"No, Brady, this time I really mean it. That throw was, like, righteous"

This quote is a clear example of how Nate and her bestfriend loved american football. They analyze the game each time by talking to each other. As I said, their favorite player is Tom Brady so they completely analyze him but never found a mistake in him no matters if in PlayStation or at the stadium.

"They were down when Belichick started coaching them, but look where they are now. They are the team to beat pretty much every year now. It will be our turn again soon"

First of all, Belichick was a coach that lead the Patriots to its dark ages but he has been expell. Its incredible how Nate and his father always talk about their favorite team in family reunions. Both know everything about this famous team thats why they even use metaphors and sayings that had to be with the England team.

This book so far has been the best book of American football I have read. I like very much how the characters are completely described and what are their hobbies and interesting’s. After all, it’s incredible how a person could get obsessed with a team and is also incredible that this happens around the entire world with each sport. It’s seems the author also likes the Patriots because he knows a lot and it’s clear he uses the example of Tom Brady because for many kids and adults, he is everyone’s idol.
